Your Presets Stay on Your Machine

preset.tools runs entirely in your browser. Your presets are never uploaded to a server, and no data ever leaves your computer. Disconnect from the internet and keep working — nothing changes.

Works Directly on Your File System

Using the Chrome File System Access API, preset.tools reads and writes your presets right where they live. Select any folder, external drive, or cloud-synced directory and start editing immediately — no import or export steps required.

Install as a Desktop App

preset.tools is a Progressive Web App you can install directly on your computer from Chrome or Edge. Once installed, it launches like a native app and works fully offline — even if this website is down.

  • Revert or adjust operations with a single click
  • Keep your preset library safe and under your control

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with preset.tools?

Getting started takes seconds. Open the dashboard, grant access to the folder where your Serum 2 presets are stored, and preset.tools will automatically scan and load every .SerumPreset file it finds. From there you can browse, edit, rename, and organize your collection.

What file formats does the Serum 2 preset editor support?

preset.tools works with .SerumPreset files, the native format used by Serum 2. If you still have Serum 1 presets in .fxp format, you can convert them to .SerumPreset inside Serum 2 first and then manage them with preset.tools.

Can I use this app on mobile devices?

The interface is fully responsive, but the File System Access API that preset.tools relies on is currently supported only in desktop browsers — specifically Chrome, Edge, and Opera. Mobile browsers do not yet support direct file system access.

Can I edit presets from external drives and cloud storage?

Yes. When you open the folder picker you can select any directory your operating system can see, including USB drives, network shares, and cloud storage mounted as a local folder. Keep in mind that cloud providers may sync files at their own pace after preset.tools writes changes.

What operations can I perform on my presets?

You can bulk edit preset metadata and tags, change author names, set or update categories and descriptions, rename files using template patterns, and copy or move presets between folders. All of these operations can be applied to your entire collection at once, making preset.tools ideal as a preset pack maker tool.

Are my presets safe and private?

Absolutely. preset.tools operates entirely within your browser and communicates with no external server. Your presets never leave your machine. The app works offline after the initial page load, and you can create a ZIP backup of your collection before making any changes.

How does the offline mode work?

preset.tools is a Progressive Web App that caches everything it needs in your browser. After your first visit you can use the full Serum 2 preset editor without an internet connection. You can also install it from Chrome or Edge so it appears alongside your other desktop apps and launches instantly.
